Avey

URGENT FOSTER NEEDED!!! Avey was left behind, in a home with no power... yes, her foster family ABANDONED her. They claim it was due to the dogs not getting along and their inability to deal with Avey's training needs. This poor baby has been through so much. Just look at her picture. She has obviously NOT been cared for properly. She was rescued last night, but this temporary foster can not keep her. We need a new foster ASAP, preferably one that does not have dogs (but cats are ok.) Avey needs to decompress and unwind after her ordeal.

Capt. Barbosa
South Jersey: One-Eyed Capt. Barbosa is extra large and extra loving and in need of extra help!

Capt. Barbosa is a show-stopper! His size is immense, but he is a gentle giant. This boy loves to be loved and he is tolerant and laid-back. Barbosa is missing an eye. It looks like it was surgically removed and stitched, as the healing is perfect. However, whoever was willing to see Barbosa through surgery has given up on him. He's been at the shelter since Sept. 17th and arrived as a stray wearing a large tow clip attached to his dirty collar. We're not sure at all about who Barbosa's parents could have been- we have guessed everything from Mastiff, to St. Bernard, to Akita, to Shepherd to Labrador. I think we can only confirm that he's a MUTT! Barbosa did well on his temperament assessment. Our evaluator pointed out that he loves to be petted, is very tolerant, and shows no signs of possession/aggression. Barbosa is a bit cautious with people at first, but warms up quickly. His only flaw is that he is a stubborn guy! Somewhere along the way, he learned that if he plants his enormous body, it's difficult to make him move. A confident and patient owner will take care of this, no problem. If he's stubborn, he's also smart! Barbosa would probably be okay with older children/teenagers. While he is very tolerant, he does startle if approached on his blind side. Barbosa has been tested with a female pit bull (did well) a female chow mix (did well) and a very social male Leonberger (reacted aggressively- we do not know if he was reacted because he was a male, or because he is huge and shaggy). Barbosa has not yet been cat-tested, but this could be arranged.

We adore Barbosa, if you visit him at the shelter, he will rub his entire body along the kennel, seeking contact of even just fingertips. This magnificent dog deserves a magnificent life. At 6 years old, he is settled and would make a laid-back companion for just the right family! Please contact

CCSPCA_Foster@yahoo.com

with any questions or if you are able to help. Please cross-post, Barbosa becomes more and more urgent as space in the shelter decreases!

If you are unable to rescue, please consider sponsoring to help increase their chances of being rescued!!!

PLEASE EMAIL MiddleMutts@aol.com  if you are a rescue group & are offering to pull an animal off our list. We may not see each post on FB, so please be sure to email us. We don't want to miss any offers!

Chip-ins / Sponsorship - For each animal we post, a chip-in is added to their profile to raise funds toward their rescue / vetting. These funds transfer with the animal and go to the approved rescue who takes them into their adoption program, less 25% that funds our Pay it Forward Fund ( PIFF ) and goes toward the care of animals in need. We are 100% volunteer so all funds raised are applied to the cost of saving lives. The PIFF is used to cover vetting costs when we haven’t raised sufficient sponsorship for necessary medical care. For example we may raise funds for heartworm treatment only to find the animal has additional ailments that require immediate attention, without funds we cannot provide this care prior to transfer to a committed rescue. In the event that we raise funds for an animal and are unable to find rescue the funds raised will transfer to another animal selected by Middle Mutts. We are always happy to provide details on where your donation was applied in the event that this occurs. Any questions about these policies can be directed to questions@middlemutts.org
Thank you for your support, without your contributions we could not save these precious lives.

Did you know...that only 15% of Americans adopt their pets? If 100% did, they'd save $2.4 billion & MILLIONS of lives! Save a life - adopt today!

Wonderful Story!

Tanner is a golden retriever who was born blind and suffers from seizures. Due to the continuous seizures during the night, his family decided to move him to a hospital for animals of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he would almost surely be euthanized. Everything changed in his life when Blair appeared. Blair was a frightened dog which had been at the clinic for more than a year, after someone shot him.

As soon as the two had the opportunity to meet in the garden of the clinic, something magical emerged between them and they quickly established a good friendship. As incredible as it may seem Tanner's epileptic seizures decreased from having them every night to once or twice per month. On the other hand Blair appears to be less anxious and scared, since
she takes care of her blind friend.

Blair has become the friend and guide dog to
Tanner, who is on a short leash.

They both need to be adopted together, they need each other, they are in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

CEDAR PARK TEXAS

I received a call yesterday by a lady I work with. She was in tears telling me that a family moved and left their dogs behind with no food or water, no electricity, and that they were in bad condition. We went up to the property and found 2 dogs hiding in a bedroom under a bed. We have a very temporary safe place for these dogs. I have till the end of today to find them a safe place. I took them both to the vet and they are underweight and both are HW Negative. I am certain the 2 yr old boxer will have no problems finding a home, but this 8 yr old ( guess by the vet ) mixed breed has leg deformities and will need a special placement for him. He is super sweet, but needs a home with soft surfaces. He is house broken and just needs a dog bed, lap and love. Thank you! Please share and contact me at K9sCount@aol.com  if you can help this little black dog.

This sweet little girl was picked up as a stray but, we did find her owner. The owner has decided that she didn’t want her back. She just stays curled up in her bed all day, she’s getting depressed. She is so sweet and loving. She is a different dog outside. Wags her tail.

Can someone please help this little girl?
I have until Monday, June 11th, to get her out.

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ANIMAL CONTROL UNLESS YOU ARE:
1 - AN ADOPTER WHO WILL BE PAYING FOR THE DOG AND PICKING UP THE DOG AT ANIMAL CONTROL YOURSELF ( LOCAL TO CENTRAL FL OR WILLING TO DRIVE THERE ).

~OR~

2 - A RESCUE WHO WANTS TO PULL A DOG AND ALREADY HAS A PLAN FOR TRANSPORTING THE DOG TO YOUR RESCUE.

If you are interested in a dog, please make sure that you have a solid plan in place before having the dog pulled. It is a lot of work / cost for volunteers to pull a dog and transport to vet / airport / boarding / etc., and we just want to make sure that at the end of it, the dog gets the loving home he / she deserves, not taken back to AC because everything wasn't thought through and it has nowhere to go. If you can't help by taking one of these fantastic dogs, you can also pledge to help with money for a rescue that will take them! Pledges help to fund the efforts of rescues who are already cash-strapped, keep in mind rescue is a labor of love, many of us have the credit card bills to prove it! If you want to make a pledge, post it in the thread and I will track it. If the dog gets saved, I will contact all that made offers of support!

"Bossy" & "Sissy"

PTS ANYTIME!!! KY, Wallingford "Boss" & "Sissy" Blind Senior Cattle Dogs X **Loving**
"Bossy" & "Sissy"

Please meet Boss and Sissy. Boss is a Cattle Dog/Border Collie X and Sissy is a Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog X. They have quite a heartbreaking story and are in desperate need of finding a forever home or rescue now! PTS date probably very soon as both shelter & kennel are now full! They deserve better than this! It would be nice if they could be rescued together but they can be separated. Please help!!! If you find that you can't help them, please feel free to share and to send their information on to others.

Update 5/19:

From Jan, a volunteer:

Sissy and Boss are great medium dogs and very affectionate. One has glaucoma and the other had an eye injury. Sissy has a lipoma on her leg that needs to come off, but she is already spayed, Boss is still intact. Both appear healthy otherwise. They adapt to new surroundings quickly. Sissy and Boss were just seen by the vet. Sissy sits on her hind legs to beg and they both just eat up attention!! Jan says that they are both loving, affectionate dogs. She is with them three times a week. New photos are shown above. Jan would welcome any inquiries. Please email Jan below for more information!

Update 4/22:

There has been no interest in Boss or Sissy. Please continue to network for them. They CAN be separated! Sissy's eye will eventually need to be removed and she has a tumor on her leg that will also need to be removed. They are not able to take new photos as the camera is broken.

From Steff:

The solid black dog, Boss, is male (not neutered) and the black and white one, Sissy (female, possibly spayed), came from deplorable conditions. They have lived out their lives with a lady who was mentally unstable. They watched as she was dragged from her home by authorities and she has been committed to a home where she can be cared for. There were 8 dogs in all, but Boss and Sissy are old and blind and so confused about what has just happened. Even through all that, they are still sweet and so loving and affectionate. I have never seen more love in two little packages. Please, can anyone out there give these babies a stable indoor home? I can tell that even though they were living in filth, they were fed well and loved. I cannot imagine how their world has now been turned upside down. They are the things movies are made of.

Boss and Sissy are now in boarding in Wallingford, Kentucky, but are URGENT as they cannot be boarded for long as the kennel is full. They have not even had an one accident in their kennel!

These dogs are truly amazing!!

The vet wants to remove one of the eyes on Sissy as it appears ready to rupture and is painful. So she needs to have an eye removal....

I think they could be separated if they have to be, that is better than not getting a home at all. They adore attention so if they were with someone who is with them a lot, they would, I feel, be content.

14 YR. OLD SENIOR SHEPHERD MIX
OWNER SURRENDER

CARSON, CA

A4434716

Today while rescuing a few Chihuahuas, I saw this horribly sad Shepherd boy laying there with green goo coming out of his eye and breathing heavily. He obviously is getting more sick as the days go by and he isn't in the medical building. Ugh! He needs a RESCUE ASAP or he will not make it out alive. Seniors who are owner surrender don't get as long a stay as the younger ones. Please open your heart and give this boy a loving home for however long he has.

It is far worse than I could imagine. This little 6.3 lb, emaciated, matted to the bone ( probably under 6 lbs when the mats come off ), little angel has a broken jaw, a bad eye, neurological damage and still she is a trooper. The SOB "didn't allow dogs in his house" and she hasn't been to a groomer in at least a year. She is probably 8+, but it is hard to tell her age because she is not in great shape. I wish I could say she was tilting her head for the camera, but she couldn't hold her head up, likely because of the jaw attack. I will find out more about how much recovery she will have/need. I am just beside myself. Los Angeles, CA. We really need a foster who will care for her for at least 2 months. If you are out there, please let me know. You can email me at:

SENIOR DUMPED AT THE LANDFILL MURFREESBORO
( Rutherford County, Tennessee )

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I work at the landfill in Murfreesboro & we have an older male ( in tact ) Hound dog roaming the property ( pictures included ). He is beginning to show signs of malnutrition, but is still the most kind & gentle soul. I have contacted a rescue, but they are not in my area. So they have posted him on their web site/Facebook page, but he is still in need of some vet work & we are trying to raise funds. I am feeding him each day, but he needs to be fixed, wormed, & given some flea & tick control. I am not associated w/any rescues, I am just trying to help this dog because he really needs it. Joker
Joker ( he used to smile and make such funny faces )
Male / unaltered / 4-5 months ( guessing ) /
We are thinking def. Pit mix
This pup has been deteriorating fast, he was just sitting there being miserable and crying when he scratched himself. A couple of weeks ago he was a happy, bouncy pup with a shiny coat and really healthy looking. Now he has until tomorrow to get out of there or he will be put down. He is very friendly and sweet, good with other dogs. His feet are very swollen and he has bloody sores all over him because he is scratching nonstop.

Taser

CLARKSVILLE, TN: Police TASERED this stray twice, beat up this senior pit, please help him or Cross-Post! Chip in link included

They have named him Taser because he was tasered twice by the police. Karen said he is at least 10 years old, he has scars and nics all over his body and ears. He has an abcessed tooth, one eye is swollen due to the infection, both eyes are draining, he is VERY skinny, and most likely has heartworms. He is not good around cats and does not need to be with other dogs. He has been a stray for quite sometime now and has had to fight for every little bit of food that he gets.

Since Taser has all of these strikes and stipulations against him his chances of an individual or rescue knowing about him or even wanting him are VERY slim. He needs A LOT of TLC, a dental, healthy food, TLC, LOVE, food, TLC, and TLC. ;) I hate knowing all that he has been through and not ever knowing a kind person or a feeling that sense of belonging and love. Who knows when the last time he felt that way if ever.

I am writing this email to everyone BEGGING, to help him. He needs a rescue that can pull him and give him the care and love that he deserves before he leaves this earth. I would take him myself but we just took 9 Pit Bulls as previously mentioned and this guy really needs our help! I have started a chip in to try to raise money for his dental if a legit rescue can take him and give him a home life of a spoiled rotten loved dog for the next 6 months to a year of his life. He may not even live that long. But something would be better than nothing. Chip in link:

http://lblrescue.chipin.com/tasers-dentalmeds-and-hw-test

PLEASE, time is of the essence with him, when they run out of space at the shetler, as much as Karen doesn't want to put him down, he will have to be euthanized. Please don't let this sweet soul leave this earth without feeling like he was loved and part of a family. It breaks my heart that he may die without ever knowing love or having a sense of belonging.

PLEASE call me ASAP if you can take him. He needs to be in a foster home, not a facility, and a home without other animals. I know this is a lot to ask for, but surely someone knows someone who can give this sweet boy the rest of his short life that he deserves. Below is a message from Karen the director of the shelter about him.

Thank you for all that you do to help the animals! Please crosspost far and wide if you cannot help.

"An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language"

TASER is 10 + year old Pit Bull Terrier male. He was running at large one evening - and got into a fight with another dog, a Police Officer Tased him twice - and then Animal Control was called.

TASER has obviously had a really tough life. Most likely living out on his own for years with no regular food, shelter, or vet care. There's no telling how many people have seen Taser over the years and never helped him or called to have him rescued.

TASER is a sweet, good natured, slow moving boy. He doesn't mind the leash at all - which is surprising. He's friendly with everyone. TASER cannot be trusted around cats - at all. He would rather not be around ANY other dogs. You can tell he's had to fight for every morsel of food he's ever gotten...so sad.

TASER has a lot of scars on his body. They are NOT consistent with fighting - but with running through brambles and living outside. He's got goop y eyes - which appear to be from an infection in his sinuses. His teeth are broken, worn down, and some are missing. He may have a an abscess or gum infection I'm not sure. His right ear was obviously ripped nearly off at one point - and it's healed - but it's merely a flap - not an ear. Both ears have been infected for awhile and are dirty and crusty. He has huge jowls and he smiles! He loves to be talked to and he loves food!

TASER may not be around long. It sure would be nice if he could find a place to live out his last few months or even a year. If he could know some love and some time with regular food and little stress - would be such a blessing for this beat up old guy.

My best -

Lucy
CT, NY, NJ MA or PA
REMEMBER WHEN LUCY WHO WAS DEFORMED FROM AN INJURY CAME TO AMERICA, EVERYONE WANTED TO HELP HER? WELL, IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW & LUCY IS STILL WAITING FOR A FUREVER HOME. WHERE IS EVERYONE? PLEASE SHARE/ADOPT THIS ANGEL SO SHE CAN GET THE LOVE SHE DESERVES.

Lucy has survived the unimaginable. Used repeatedly as a breeding dog and then discarded to the streets of Colombia, she was found starving by a good Samaritan, her jaw and nose badly broken. A SFTH adopter and volunteer heard about her plight and arranged for her to fly to NY, where she has been receiving rehabilitation ever since. We had a specialist examine her, and although her facial bones never healed properly, she can eat, drink and has no pain whatsoever, so we decided not to put her through extensive and unnecessary surgery. Anyway, we think she’s beautiful the way she is! Lucy is great with people and she adores small dogs, probably because they remind her of the many puppies she's had over the years. Her foster mom tells us that Lucy is very easy going and low maintenance. The only thing our little couch potato loves more than having a backyard to explore, is having a couch to come back to and nap on! Lucy is spayed 100% healthy, up to date on her shots. Please call Beth at 347-242-0459 you would like to adopt our Special Girl.

Lucy is currently in a wonderful foster home with her trainer in CT, not boarding (that was last year). We're only going to adopt her out to a home in CT, NY, NJ MA or PA. We'd prefer to keep her close so the person or family will be able to visit her a couple of times so they can get to know her and Lucy can get to know them. We'd like to adopt her out as the only dog or to someone pit savvy with a well balanced small dog. And we would love for Lucy to have an enclosed backyard which she has now and LOVES!

BETSY
URGENT!!! JACKSON COUNTY, WV
SHELTER IS IN CRISIS MODE!!! THIS BEAUTIFUL BABY NEEDS RESCUE ASAP!!!
CONTACT 304-372-6064
http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24287201
SHELTER IS VERY RESCUE / TRANSPORT FRIENDLY. SEE INFO BELOW:

Regarding transports: We have transport coordinator / driver assistance to northeastern states. So if you are north or east of WV, we can transport closer to you. If you are west or south of WV, you will need to make your own transport arrangements. For long distance, try PilotsNPaws or Pet Airways.

Rescues: If you would like to rescue from our shelter, please submit our rescue application ( link above ). Once approved, you can respond to alerts and offer to pull dogs/order vetting. Vetting must be paid for directly to our vet on or before the day of vetting. Spay/neuter is mandatory/health permitting. We provide vet contact info once you confirm a dog/cat. We have a rescue building where we can house dogs for up to 2 weeks (at no charge) after they are vetted while transport is arranged. We are PA licensed to work with PA-based rescues.

Sponsors: Sponsorships are welcome and greatly appreciated but they do not guarantee the safety of an urgent animal if that animal does not have a rescue commitment. They do tend to increase the likelihood that a dog will be chosen by a rescue though! Please email us to inquire if you are interested in sponsoring a dog or cat.

Adopters: Please email us to request an adoption application. If you live near our shelter, please visit in person to adopt. Long distance adopters must work with one of our pre-screened rescues local to you in order to adopt. Most of our rescue contacts are in northeastern states.

URGENT!!!!
Trio Animal Foundation

Today TAF was called by Diane, the shelter manager at the Animal Welfare League’s Wabash facility, about a severely burned dog who had been used as bait. The blood soaked puppy was found walking down the street by police in the Englewood area of Chicago. Bridgid, from Project Rescue Chicago, went down to AWL and picked up the puppy, taking him straight to our vet at Animal Care Center of Chicago.

Bridgid sent me photos of a 2-3 month old puppy as soon as she met him. When I received the photos my eyes welled up with tears and anger filled my heart. I’m quite honestly so sick of receiving abuse cases day in and day out with no end in sight. Some friends of mine say people are afraid of me because I’m too direct, “bitchy,” and at times a bit anti-social. Well…this is why. You can’t help but have your personality tainted when you deal with the end result of horrific acts of cruelty all the time. Sometimes it is just too much.

This puppy was, without a doubt, used as a bait dog. He has bite wounds all over his body. However, these wounds are the least of his worries. His face was burned either by an accelerant/fire combo or some other chemical. As of tonight Dr Hartwig has stabilized the puppy. The puppy is on IV fluids, the highest level of pain medication possible and antibiotics. Once hydrated, the puppy will be heavily sedated and his dead flesh and scabs cut away from his healthy skin. The puppy will be hospitalized in isolation for at least 10 days. This will allow the vet staff to monitor his overall health as well as observe him for symptoms of parvo. Until then, we will make sure he is as comfortable as possible. When we left him this evening, puppy was curled up on a comfy blanket, resting peacefully.

If you want to help this poor puppy, please consider making a donation towards his medical care. If you visit www.trioanimalfoundation.org and click donate you will see the options.

Please say a prayer for our little puppy, that his pain is eased and he makes it through the coming days.

EMERGENCY! Dog shot, has fractures and dislocation of front leg, shelter vet will have to amputate if rescue not found by Friday!

Crip was brought in as a stray by animal control to the Vance County Animal Shelter ( gassing / heartstick facility ) in North Carolina, late on Wednesday.  He was immediately taken by a volunteer to the local vet clinic where it was determined he had been shot and has a leg fracture & possible dislocation of the right front leg.  He is unable to bear any weight and is in a lot of pain.  The shelter vet will be forced to amputate if Crip does not go to rescue tomorrow on our scheduled transport.  Crip needs an orthopedic specialist to determine if his leg can be saved; no specialist is available in the area.

This boy deserves every possible chance of fully recovering from this heinous act, please help us find rescue for him as well as raise sponsorship to help rescue with some of the costs involved.

FREE TRANSPORT
available leaving Henderson NC Friday
night heading north along I-95 into NJ.

PLEASE SAVE CRIP!  If you cannot rescue but want to donate towards his treatment, please donate via his chip-in here:

http://midd1emutts.chipin.com/vance-crip-fractured-leg
UPDATE!

Crip ( now Trooper - great name! ) was transported to a vet in VA yesterday, his leg very swollen and he was in so much pain & agony, he couldn't even get up.  We are awaiting an update.  His leg is so infected from the bullet wounds that he is being given massive doses of antibiotics to combat the infection before determining if his leg can be saved.  He still needs rescue but we had to get him out of the shelter & into a medical facility where he could be evaluated orthopedically.  In the meantime we are still raising funds to cover his extensive medical bills if you could pass along his chip-in, that would be super! http://midd1emutts.chipin.com/vance-crip-fractured-leg

Thank you for caring about this very special boy.

Maddie
Maddie is a 4-5 year-old Dachshund mix. Unfortunately, she fell off a deck and injured her back, leaving her paralyzed. She came to the Rhode Island SPCA in March of 2011. At that time, she was emaciated, encased in her own overgrown hair, and had numerous infected sores that required medical attention. She has some leg and tail movement but cannot stand on her own or walk. Fortunately, she doesn’t appear to be in any pain. Maddie is incontinent due to the paralysis and needs to have her bladder expressed in order to avoid urinary tract infections and vaginal disease. She has worn diapers. Maddie has a good attitude and gets around in her wheel cart with ease. She is a loving dog that enjoys children, adults and other dogs. . It will take a special person to take in this special dog. For more info on Maddie, please call the Rhode Island SPCA at

401-438-8150.

Maddie is available at Rhode Island SPCA.

HONEY

A1357692 - Honey is a wistful eleven year old tan one-eyed spayed female Chihuahua who was found wandering the streets of Baldwin Park on July 7th and brought to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center. Weighing fifteen pounds, this girl is initially cautious when she meets new people but once she gets to know you, she becomes the ultimate lapdog and companion. Good with other dogs, we think she will be best in an adult home due to her blind side. Honey will make a tremendous pet for a senior citizen as well as for an adult living in an apartment.

Momma Dog, she really is a very sweet girl, still gives kisses. So for the moment she is safe with my good hearted neighbors, but they can't keep her indefinitely. I bought food for her. I hope you are able to get her on the doggy life line train. I really appreciate your help with this.

She is very timid but friendly. She is thin. Seems to be good with other dogs. the people who currently have her do not have the funds to feed her and their neighbor is providing food! Age and HW status are unknown.

What a sweetheart! This guy is so great! I would not lie, he's emotionally balanced, so calm & trusting and didn't try to bolt off of the table once! Even when I stepped away and out of view, he remained there, comfortable and happy.

Some nationalities say that having a deformed whatever is a sign of good luck. So I'm going to go with that. This little guy is young, about 1-2 yrs old, around 11 pounds or so, has a very unique paw. Please look through the photos. He holds his paw up when sitting, but can walk on it, not good, but has determination. He was stinky and matted so I gave him a bath and attempted to groom him ( disclaimer I'm not a groomer ) and he was so grateful, he even licked the scissors! I got a lot of affection which made me feel like he felt better. His tail started to wag, he rolled over on his back and was just the best little guy! He is calm, relaxed, liked other dogs who came by for a visit and is a wonderful chap, he's wonderful! He might have allergies ( since he was itchy ) and had no fleas and had itched his rump to where it was discolored, but all of that is treatable and no big deal. His big deal is that he NEEDS A HOME!!! Can we help him? He is in 106 at Baldwin Park Shelter.  Come get some love!!!

MYSTIC

MYSTIC is just a baby: 4-5 months Old

She has horrific mange, skin infections, and look at her front feet! From being so malnourished, she has what is called duck feet. She doesn’t have enough strength in her ankles to hold herself up. That is from a poor diet, lack of food, nutrients, etc. This takes time, like mange, to heal.

Mystic's skin is thickened and like elephant skin. This baby has basically been totally neglected since birth. She will require several months of care, medication and TLC needed to get her better. She is almost as bad as our recent baby Lita, who was thrown from a moving car.

Paws and Claws has saved so many pups in urgent need of significant medical attention.

Please chip in to Mystic’s medical care – Paws and Claws will need your help to pull her from the shelter and get her medical attention!!!

Jada

JADA was surrendered today by her owner of NINE years. JADA has three legs because she was hit by a car when she was 2 years old. The owner continued to breed her and sell her puppies throughout her life. Now the owner is moving to Ohio and there's nowhere to live that will allow JADA to come with them? So yes - JADA is at Animal Control now - hoping for a way out. She's a great girl who surely didn't deserve this. She gave her life to this family - and her puppies lives too....She's social, housebroken, and a real trooper of a dog. Great on the leash and loves wet food and to have her cropped ears rubbed. I just can't figure people out, and on top of all that breeding she's not even a purebred. My whole staff and I are simply still stunned over how sweet JADA is and her situation.

This adorable puppy is a male, 4 month old, blind lethal white Australian Shepherd in immediate need of rescue. Any and all help is very much appreciated. Although he is blind his hearing is fine. This little guy was dropped of at the Lovington, NM shelter, this is a high kill shelter and he does not stand much of a chance. They will not adopt him out to the public and will only allow a rescue to take him. If no one comes forward ASAP he will be euthanized.

A hold has been requested to try and find him placement. The sooner he is out the better! Blind but not deaf. Male - no medical anything as of yet - sweet as can be - staff thinks he is quite sharp despite his blindness.

We have only until very early next week to try and get him out. Kristi Edwards of http://www.EnchantMutts.org, will help with transport as they can and can get him pulled, they are in Albuquerque. Direct contact is listed below.

POSSIBLY DEAF ABANDONED LITTLE GIRL
( Please care enough to share )

This sweet girl named Missy was found as a stray by Amanda and Billy. They took her in to care for her until they could find a no kill shelter. Well, the no kill shelters are packed. They are preparing to move due financial struggles and they cannot take her. ( They have a 6 month old daughter and another on the way. He was laid off and relocation was the only way to find employment. )

Although they had no intention of keeping her, they fell in love with her. And now they are devastated. They do not know much info about her or where she came from. They have not began the vaccination process and they believe she is Deaf.

She is friendly with children, babies and even cats!

If you have any leads or suggestions please let me know! We do not want the Humane Society to be the last resort!

UPDATED 5.2.2012: Lady Bug returns to the vet's next week to have her eye checked and will then be in need of rescue or adoption. She had an approved adopter in Montana, but unfortunately transport cannot be worked out. The shelter is starting to fill again, so please share Lady Bug and the others--the more we get out; the longer the ones remaining have!

Lady Bug is a 6-month-old, female Redtick Coonhound located in Durbin, West Virginia who was brought in by Animal Control with a punctured eye. The shelter believes someone maliciously stabbed her in the eye. Unfortunately, her eye could not be saved and has been removed. She's now in need of adoption or rescue!

Manhatten Center - URGENT!!!
Morales A0929888,
Male, 1year - 6 months, stray

Please give this boy a chance at life!

DO NOT CALL and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on adopting, please visit our website:

If you're thinking of re-homing or giving up your animal, please take into consideration the amount of homeless and abandoned animals there currently are and seek out ways to get help via an animal trainer/behaviorist.
Many rescues & shelters are full to capacity with companion animals looking for a place to call their own, but
will never find one.
